In 2006 SISG had a fantastic year for awards.
Firstly, we applied for the GlaxoSmithKline Impact Award in conjunction with the Kings Fund. Out of over 300 other charities throughout Scotland, Wales and England we reached the final 20. An assessor from the awards spent a day in our office getting more information on the work we do and visiting one of the nursing homes we service.
Our Chairperson, Morag Whiteside and two committee members, Bernadette Marr and Dorothy McRoberts as well as our Project Manager, Denise McClung, went to London in April to attend the awards ceremony in the National Gallery and we were delighted to be awarded one of the top prizes of £20,000.
GSK 2007 - In April SISG received an invitation to this years Awards Ceremony even though we had not applied again. It was GSK's 10th Anniversary and as a past winner we were invited - although only 6 past winners were invited to the ceremony! Our Chair and two others attended and were delighted that GSK in Irvine gave £250 donation towards the cost of attending this.
Age Concern - Later in the year we were informed that we had been nominated for the Age Concern Group of the Year Award for 2006 and again attended their AGM in Edinburgh to receive the award and a cheque for £1,000.
These awards are testament to the work of SISG.
